2 CHRONICLES 32-34

Focus Verse: When the king heard the words of the law, he tore his clothes.
2 Chronicles 34:19

When is the last time God’s Word has caused this kind of reaction in you? I am afraid that a lot of people have lost this kind of connection with God’s Word today. We view the Bible as a book of good, “moral” stories; tales that are to inspire us and make us feel good. And in looking at God’s Word this way, we have stripped it of its power to change us.

God’s Word must become more authoritative in our lives. It needs to have the power to change us. It needs to become alive and active in our lives. When King Josiah read the Word of God, he tore his clothes because he realized there were things that he desperately needed to change to be in line with God’s Word. Will you let God’s Word have that kind of authority in your life?

When is the last time you’ve let His Word correct you? When is the last time His Word has trumped your feelings or culture or religion? When is the last time you’ve fallen in love with God’s Word? The last time you’ve felt that thrill in your heart from reading the Word of God?

The Word of God is alive. When is the last time it has come alive to you?
