1 KINGS 21-22

Focus Verse: Surely there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him. He acted very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites had done, whom the Lord cast out before the sons of Israel.
1 Kings 21:25-26

“Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the evil in his days, but I will bring the evil upon his house in his son’s days.”
1 Kings 21:29

Amazing grace! God’s Word goes out of the way to tell us that there has never been anyone as evil as Ahab. He sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord. He let his wife lead him into the worship of the same gods that the Amorites worshiped…the same gods that led them into such detestable practices.

When Ahab humbles himself, God shows mercy. The most evil man in the history of the ancient world is not beyond the forgiveness of God. Ahab had done everything he could think of…and then some…to go against God’s purpose and plan for his life.

Here God is. Offering a humble heart a way back. It’s what He does. It’s who He is. If God gave Ahab, the worst of the worst, a way back, is there anything that could keep Him from extending that grace to you? And if Ahab, the worst of the worst, could humble himself before the Lord, even after spending an entire lifetime running from Him, what’s holding you back?

God is never too far away and you are never too far gone. Humble yourself.
