Focus Verse: Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!”
“But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!”
Judges 6:14-15

God calls Gideon to rescue the Israelites in the strength he has and Gideon responds perfectly…“I can’t.”

This needs to be our response, and not just when God calls us to do something that we are uncomfortable doing. When God asks us to go in the strength we have, that has to be a strength surrendered to Him. The God who hand-crafted the universe doesn’t need any weak attempt of effort that Jeremy Alan Metzger can give…He needs a man (or woman) completely submitted to His will.

The strength that Gideon really had, the strength that the angel of the Lord was talking about here, was the power of the Holy Spirit that we see come on Gideon later in verse 34. The only way Gideon could receive this power was to admit that, on his own, he could do nothing and completely surrender to God’s will for his life.

Are you surrendered to God’s will for your life? Are you aware that apart from Him, you can do nothing? If you are, then God is ready to use you for things you cannot even begin to imagine!
