Focus Verse: “Then Moses said to the Lord, ‘O Lord, you are the God who gives breath to all creatures. Please appoint a new man as leader for the community. Give them someone who will guide them wherever they go and will lead them into battle, so the community of the Lord will not be like sheep without a shepherd.’

The Lord replied, ‘Take Joshua son of Nun, who has the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.’”

Numbers 27:15-18

Now this is a leader’s prayer. Moses could have been ticked that God wasn’t letting him enter the Promised Land. Moses could have been focused entirely on himself at this point…I mean, God did just tell him that he was about to die. Surely no one would hold that against him.

But he wasn’t. Even to the very end, Moses wanted the Lord’s will to be done in Israel. He wasn’t interested in giving God suggestions (and let’s be honest, he probably had a few). Moses wasn’t interested in doing things man’s way. He wanted Israel run God’s way.

We need to get there. In our prayer life and in the way we live out our day to day. We cannot live in God’s kingdom man’s way. He will not permit it. God’s kingdom comes on God’s terms. It is His will be done, not ours.

As soon as we grasp this…then and only then can we begin truly joining Him in His’ Kingdom’s business. Until then, we are just building our kingdom.
