Focus Verse: “The Lord is the one you and your followers are really revolting against! For who is Aaron that you are complaining about him?”

Numbers 16:11

Some of us need to wrap our minds around this. Who are you really talking bad about when you complain about your pastor? Who are you really disrespecting when you talk back to your parents? Who are you really bashing when you tear down your president?

Look, in no way is this meant to be political. But that’s because God isn’t political. Whether you are Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or not even affiliated with any party system, God DEMANDS that you respect those in leadership. He has put them there. Even if you aren’t American, God has put your leaders in that position. You must respect them.

“Well Daniel didn’t respect the leadership in Babylon.” Some might argue. But he actually did. He didn’t obey the leadership, but he also accepted the penalty for his “crimes”. We can go through any example in the Bible of those who had run-ins with those in authority over them. Nowhere did they disrespect that authority.

God calls you to respect those in authority over you. Now if you disagree and are able to leave their authority, then you should do so…QUIETLY, WITHOUT COMPLAINING. But if not, you need to submit to the position God has given them.

It might not be popular, but since when is doing the popular thing right?
