EXODUS 33-35

Focus Verse: “The Moses said to Him, ‘If Your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that You are pleased with me and with Your people unless You go with us? What else will distinguish me and Your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?’”

Exodus 33:15-16

Moses gets it. We need to get it as clearly as Moses. How are we any different from the rest of the world if we don’t have God’s presence? We need His presence. We can get by without intelligence, without strength, without favor with men, as long as we have the presence of God. Unfortunately we’ve lost sight of this.

Moses went so far as to say that he didn’t want any of God’s promises if God didn’t come with them. I’m scared to think of how many of us unknowingly choose differently so many times. Don’t get me wrong, if we were given the multiple choice test, we would pick God’s presence every time, but in the test of life we fail over and over again.

Which is more important to you, God’s presence or His promises? Do we value the Giver or the gift more? The answer to this question lies no further than how we react when God answers our prayers in ways that we don’t understand. Do we pout or do we rejoice?

God’s presence is all we need. Everything else falls into place when we are in His presence. So give up the Promised Land if it doesn’t come with His presence. It’s not worth it.

Seek His presence first, and all these things will be added unto you.
